Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship

Program Overview

Clinical Training:

The fellowship program is comprised of 12 months of clinical experience and 24 months of research. 

6 months of inpatient pediatric clinical consultation service, 1 month in the Clinical Diagnostic Microbiology Laboratory, and 1 month on Infection Control/Antimicrobial Stewardship. The remaining time is dedicated to developing a scholarly project(s) that will be carried out during the 2nd and 3rd years of training.

Clinic: 1st year fellows work with Dr. Barbara Hendrickson ½ day per week in the Comer Children’s Hospital Outpatient General ID Clinic.

3 months of inpatient clinical consultation service. The remaining time is dedicated to carrying out scholarly activities, +/- participation in a Pediatric Transplant ID Elective under the direction of Dr. Madan Kumar.

Clinic: 2nd year fellows work with Dr. Julia Rosebush ½ day per week at the Friend Health Center Outpatient ID Clinic that focuses almost exclusively on HIV/STI treatment and prevention services.

3 months of inpatient clinical consultation service. The remaining time is dedicated to carrying out scholarly activities, +/- participation in a Pediatric Transplant ID Elective under the direction of Dr. Madan Kumar.

Clinic: 3rd year fellows work with Dr. Daniel Johnson at the Mt. Sinai Hospital Outpatient General Pediatric ID Clinic.

The fellowship experience is supplemented with didactic lectures and learning experiences that will assist in the preparation of fellows to sit for the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) Pediatric Infectious Diseases Certifying Examination at the completion of the training program.
