Meet Our Program Leadership

Alisa McQueen, MD

Program Director 
Associate Chair for Education
Associate Professor of Pediatrics

Dr. Alisa McQueen completed her residency at the Boston Combined Residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital. She joined the University of Chicago faculty in 2008 and now considers herself an official Midwesterner. She will even eat fried twinkies. She is dedicated to innovative curriculum development, including the use of high fidelity simulation based clinical education, and prides herself on getting to know each resident personally. 

H. Barrett Fromme, MD, MHPE

Professor of Pediatrics

Dr. Barrett Fromme oversees faculty development in medical education at the University level and Curriculum Development within the Pediatric Residency Training Program. She completed her residency at Comer Children’s Hospital and her MHPE from University of Illinois - Chicago.  As a Pediatric Hospitalist at Comer Children's Hospital, she is passionate about medical education and has  received numerous teaching awards across the continuum of learners, both locally and nationally. 

Rochelle Naylor, MD

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics

An active researcher, Dr. Naylor completed her Pediatric Residency, Chief Residency, and Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship at the University of Chicago. When she is not studying intern applicant files, she researches monogenetic diabetes.

Nicola Orlov, MD, MPH

Dr. Orlov completed her Pediatric Residency and her Chief Residency at Comer Children's Hospital. In addition to her work as a Pediatric Hospitalist, Dr. Orlov serves as the Associate Clerkship Director.

Karen Goldstein, MD, MPH, MA

Director of Primary Care Training
Associate Professor of Pediatrics

Dr. Goldstein combines her training in child development, public health, and special education with pediatrics.  She completed her residency at University of Chicago and provides primary care at Friend Family Health Center.  She is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, is the Associate Program Director for Primary Care, and coordinates the community Pediatrics rotation for interns.

Joseph Hageman, MD

Pediatric Residency Research Mentor
Professor Emeritus, NorthShore University HealthSystem

Dr. Joseph Hageman serves as the Residency Research Mentor to the pediatric residents and helps guide the creation and completion of their required Research Projects. Dr. Hagemen completed his residency and fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Children's Memorial Hospital at Northwestern University. Dr. Hageman previously served as the Clinical Director of the NICU, and the Medical Director of Inpatient Pediatrics at NorthShore University HealthSystem (previously Evanston Hospital).
