The Department of Pediatrics Diversity and Inclusion Statement
The University of Chicago Department of Pediatrics is committed to developing a diverse workforce and nurturing a climate of cultural awareness and inclusivity in order to ensure that our faculty, staff, and house staff achieve their full potential. Our tripartite mission and service to our patients and community can only be fully realized through recruiting, supporting, and retaining exceptionally talented individuals of different races, ethnicities, nationalities, socioeconomic backgrounds, religions, gender identities, sexual orientations, disabilities, and ages. As a Department, we are committed to providing education, building programs, and enhancing processes for recruitment, mentorship, and advancement for all department members. Our ultimate goal is to create an equitable, inclusive, and diverse working environment that benefits not only our members, but also our patients, their families, and the community we serve.
As efforts increase we are asking for more volunteers to join committee, please apply, send inquiries or ideas to pediatricsinclusion@bsd.uchicago.edu.
