About the Section Translational medicine has been a "hot" area in the United States for the past 15 years. Physician-scientists identify abnormal proteins and genes. They modify them in animals to understand disease in order to develop new therapies and diagnostic tools. This step lays an important foundation before researchers experiment in people using clinical trials. Inside the Institute, this team will work side-by-side with investigators across programs to ensure a free flow of information and new treatments from the laboratory to the patient bedside and back again.
