About the Section

Why are some children more susceptible to diabetes? Why is asthma so prevalent in African-Americans? Institute investigators delve deeply into the mystery of such questions using physiology to understand what goes wrong at the cellular level. Physiology is becoming central to understanding the function of genes in organs or organisms and how this is impacted by the environment. As is the case across all IMPS programs, researchers have never before had the spectrum of tools and techniques now available to advance and translate science into medicine.
