Pulmonology Fellowship

Welcome to the University of Chicago Fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology.  Open to graduates of pediatric residency training programs, we offer a 3-year training program accredited by the ACGME.  Our aim is to train outstanding Pediatric Pulmonologists in both the clinical and research arenas.

Our Fellowship Program affords the opportunity of training in Pediatric Pulmonology through both inpatient and outpatient consultative care.  In addition to clinical management, fellows are exposed to conducting Pediatric bonchoscopy, interpretation of pulmonary function testing, exercise testing, chest radiography and finally pediatric polysomnography, Pulmonary pathology exposure is attained through regular didactic sessions.

The overall objective of the Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowship is to provide an educational opportunity that enables the fellow with previous experience in General Pediatrics to obtain the theoretical, clinical, and laboratory knowledge and skills to function as a clinical consultant in Pediatric Pulmonology.  At completion, the candidate should be capable of functioning independently as a consultant with a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of pulmonary physiology and pathophysiology, and a detailed knowledge and experience in the management of pediatric pulmonary disorders.  The trainee should be capable of supervising a clinical pediatric pulmonary function laboratory, demonstrate scholarship, and have a defined approach toward continuing medical education.
