Welcome to the Inpatient Curriculum Site. The goal of the curriculum is to provide exposure to common diseases experienced by hospitalized children. The handouts and discussions are focused on background, diagnostic testing, and management. The intention is not to promote the only right way to provide inpatient care. In reality there are many ways to approach clinical decisions. Instead, it is intended to provide you with an introduction to the evidence that supports or refutes certain methods of management. It is up to each individual to determine how they will apply the knowledge to each individual case. You can then create your own clinical style based on what you have learned. This is the “art” of medicine.

The following resources accompany the Inpatient Curriculum small group series that the pediatric interns experience during their inpatient months.

I look forward to working with you on the floors! The hospitalists are always available to assist you on your journey to becoming an intelligent, thoughtful, and compassionate pediatrician. Do not hesitate to call us, page us, or just drop by our offices.
