Report:

A subphrenic abscess in a previously healthy child was presented by Dr Joel Schwab. This case report from Pediatrics prompted discussion related to positive & negative predictors of SBI, citing Pulliam, et al, among other articles—the resolution, that clinicians must remain critical of any single laboratory predictor (WBC, ANC, CRP, etc.) of occult bacteremia or SBI.

Please see your boxes later today for the duty hours applying to medical students.

Third year medical students must not have floor activities past midnight when on call to give them sufficient time to finish writeups, discuss patients with their reisent, read about their patients, ane leave remaining time for an adequate amount of sleep for the next day's learning activities. In orrder to mee this 12am deadline, it is recommended that residents should strive towards not assigning new patients to students after 10pm.

Please ensure that you are coming to conferences on time (morning report at 8am and noon conference at 12). If a patient's status is keeping you on the floor, you must notify your attending.
