Research Interests
Dr. Brown is an Instructor of Pediatrics. She is the recipient of a Robert Wood Johnson award for the study of insulin signaling and airway responsiveness. Her research involves investigating possible mechanisms for asthma and the link between asthma and obesity. Specifically she is studying the role of Akt1 and insulin signaling as they relate to airway smooth muscle hypertrophy and airway hyperresponsiveness. She serves as the Diversity Committee Co-Chair for the Pediatric Residency Program at the University of Chicago, is on the Medical School Admissions Committee and is also very involved with the Residency Education Committee. Dr. Brown is board certified in Pediatrics, board eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, and attends in the pediatric intensive care unit.
